Daniel Schorr and me in D.C.

When I hear that sonorous voice of Daniel Schorr rumbling through the airwaves on NPR, I stop what I am doing and pay attention; I know I am about to be enlightened. A man of courage and conviction who speaks truth to power, no matter the consequences, the words of Daniel Schorr have had a tremendous impact on our nation. The Edward R. Murrow-trained CBS journalist was on President Richard Nixon’s Enemy List in the 1970’s and is now nine decades into his prime…but let me tell you, he’s still got it.
I was in Washington D.C. for the Congressional Black
Caucus Annual Dinner and spent Saturday morning walking the Mall
with my coffee when I stumbled upon the Library of Congress National
Book Festival underway on a rainy day under big white tents. In one
glorious afternoon I listened to Eleanor Clift, Bob Schieffer, Cokie Roberts,
US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and the truth-teller, Daniel Schorr..
Come to think of it, Daniel Schorr is more than my hero, he is the conscience of a nation.
